Does media create or reflect culture?

When I wrote my listicle, I thought about all the different Internet phenomena that have happened over the years and how they impacted our culture and everyday life. I learned how several video games went viral through the power of media and made a cultural impact. I learned that media creates new culture by making things go viral, and introduces certain elements of those things, like language, into mainstream culture.
